Introduction

Thapar Institute of Engineering And Technology invites online applications for BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) programmes. Admission to BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) programs shall be conducted through two modes. Candidates seeking admission to BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) programs shall be eligible for both the modes (Mode -1 for 50% of seats on the basis of merit in NEET – 2022 and Mode – 2 for 50% of seats on the basis of merit in 10+2 PCB)  need not to submit two separate application forms. Application form submitted by the candidate for admission in shall be considered for both the modes.

Admission Modes

i) Admission Mode Based on NEET 2022 Score

50% of the available seats in BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) shall be filled on the basis of merit of NEET – 2022

Eligibility

• The Candidate has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and, Biology.
• The Candidate has appeared in NEET – 2022.
• The Candidate possesses a good moral character
• The Candidate is a citizen of India
• The Candidate is born on or after October 1, 1997 (5-years relaxation in age for SC/ST/PH candidates)
• Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination (10+2) are also eligible to apply. Such candidates will be placed provisionally in the merit list. They will not be considered for admission if they fail to submit proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time
  of document checking.

In the final round of counselling, any seat remaining vacant through Mode-1 shall be filled through Mode-2 and vice versa

ii) Admission Mode Based on 10+2 Marks in PCB

50% of the available seats in BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and, Biology

Eligibility

• The candidate has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 70% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and, Biology.
• The Candidate possesses a good moral character
• The Candidate is a citizen of India
• is born on or after October 1, 1997 (5-years relaxation in age for SC/ST/PH candidates).
• Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination (10+2) are also eligible to apply. Such candidates will be placed provisionally in the merit list. They will not be considered for admission if they fail to submit proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time
  of document checking.

For BTech – Biotechnology and BTech – Biomedical Engineering, 50% (30) seats shall be offered to candidates of 10+2 PCM background and 50% (30) seats shall be offered to candidates of 10+2 PCB background.

Distribution of Seats

a) Punjab State Quota Seats

• 50% of the seats are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located in the state of Punjab.
• The candidates having Punjab Residency certificate but have passed 10+2 examination from any location outside Punjab shall also be considered under Punjab quota. Such candidates will have to submit an affidavit at the time of document checking that they have not availed state quota in any other State/UT. Candidates seeking admission under this category are required to submit a certificate as per format (Annexure-XV) along with the application form.

b) Outside Punjab State Quota Seats

50% of the seats are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located outside the state of Punjab.
