About

The Government of India has established IISERs at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati to integrate and promote interdisciplinary science education and research. Over the years IISERs have been successfully attracting talented young minds. An overarching goal of the IISERs is to enable students to shape the nation by inventing and implementing sustainable solutions for societal problems through research in science. This is being achieved by our faculty of international repute together with bright students. In a short span of time IISERs have generated an incredible amount of intellectual property in the form of publications and patents.

Note: A maximum of 25% of the seats will be allocated through KVPY and JEE-Advanced channels. Remaining seats will be filled through the SCB channel based on the merit in the IISER Aptitude Test. Unfilled seats from KVPY and JEE channels, if any, will also be added to the SCB channel for allotment.

Eligibility

a) To be eligible for admission via the IIT-JEE (Advanced) channel, candidates must have secured a rank within 15000 in the common rank list (for candidates belonging to GEN/OBC categories) or in the respective category rank lists (for candidates belonging to GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PWD categories) of JEE(Advanced). Additional cut-off criteria for marks obtained in 10+2 board examination is also applicable. The cut-off marks in (10+2) as eligibility for admissions is: 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for GEN/OBC and OBC-NCL categories and 55% for SC/ST/PWD in any recognized board.

c) Any student who has qualified Class XII (or equivalent) examination in science stream either in the year 2020 or 2021 can apply to the BS (four year) degree / BS- MS (five year) dual degree programs in IISERs provided the eligibility criteria are satisfied. At present, the BS degree program is available only at IISER Bhopal. Also, for applying to any of the BS degree programs, students must have Mathematics as one of the subjects in class XII examinations.

b) Students who passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2019 or earlier are not eligible.

c) Candidates, whose result of Class 10+2 (or equivalent) examination is awaited at the time of submission of application, can choose the “Result Awaited” option while filling the qualifying exam result. However, they must upload their marksheet, category certificate and fill subject details and respective marks on the application portal. In order to complete the application, the tentative dates for uploading the marksheet can be seen from Important Dates later.
